is the VIP fruit du jour.
just like with fashion and accessories, cars, celebrities, media…various food/extract has its 15 minutes of fame.
when i first moved to vancouver, the ‘lychee martini’ was all the rage and offered at every bar. now, whenever i’m scoping to buy a beverage – there it is – pomegranate – martini / frozen juice / dessert / smoothie …etc.
it’s actually an ugly fruit that is hard to bust into and difficult to eat, but apparently it’s hard to spell and sounds exotic – so let’s exploit it for all it’s worth!
just embrace it already – otherwise you’ll be behind with cultural fads that are actually arbitrary – but still bring us together as consumers.
